In every country where the death penalty is carried out, there are people who must carry out these executions. This is also the case in Iran: By day, Heshmat is a helpful husband who lovingly cares for his family. But late at night, he gets up to carry out executions in prison. Meanwhile, young Pouya has just begun his military service and must execute another human being for the first time. Desperate, he plans his escape to avoid having to carry out the order. Soldier Javad, on the other hand, has been granted leave, which he spends with his girlfriend. However, he has bought those three days off by executing a prisoner. The terminally ill Bahram lives in seclusion in the mountains. Once, he refused to shoot a man and had to live with the consequence that this closed the door on his career as a doctor. Only years later does he meet his daughter, who lives in Germany, and is able to talk to her about the past.
