Plot:
1913, Provence, Southeastern France. Stranded in a barren valley in the foothills of the Alps, the young and thirsty narrator is saved by Elzeard Bouffier, a solitary, grizzled shepherd. As one thing leads to another, the captivating story of the man who planted trees unfolds, spanning the period before World War I until shortly after World War II.
