Without having a real plan for the future apart from marrying Dot, his rebellious high-school sweetheart who is still in school, leather-clad working-class mechanic Reggie only feels alive when he rides his "Bathtub" Triumph 5TA Speed Twin motorcycle. As Dot flees her dreary life through marriage and Reggie dreams of trading his bike in for a speedy Triumph T120R Bonneville after losing a cafe race, Pete, a cocky buddy from the legendary Ace Cafe', suddenly enters the young couple's life riding a swift Norton Dominator Model 88. More and more, as youthful marital bliss turns into resentment and bitter disappointment, Reggie finds himself before an emotional cul-de-sac, forced to come to grips with his sexual identity.
