The King and the Bird

King Charles of Takicardie is conceited, tyrannical, and lives in a huge palace with every conceivable luxury. No one in his kingdom likes him, least of all his servants. To escape his loneliness, he retreats into the dream world of his paintings, which become real to him. When a beautiful shepherdess flees with a chimney sweep from one of the paintings, the king makes it his mission to bring her back. His only adversary is a colorful bird who makes life difficult for the king and helps the characters in the paintings escape by guiding them through all kinds of dangers and traps. "The King and the Bird" is a classic animated film and an adaptation of the lesser-known fairy tale "The Shepherdess and the Chimney Sweep" by Hans Christian Andersen.
