Plot:
With only his assistant Kurt knowing the full extent of the work, Dr. Bill Cortner, a surgical intern, has been working on experiments at his family's secluded country cottage on transplanting internal organs and limbs, which does not sit well with his surgeon father. It also does not sit well with his father that he has been taking discarded human parts, mainly limbs, from the hospital for his experiments. But his father cannot deny that Bill's experiments have some merit when after a patient is declared clinically dead on the operating table, Bill is able to bring the patient back to life. Bill himself believes he has made a breakthrough with development of a serum which reduces rejection of transplants. Bill has what he considers his most important experiment when en route to the cottage with his fiancee Jan Compton, who also does not know the extent of his work, he gets into a fiery car crash, he able to save Jan's decapitated head, alive, while her body burns in the wrecked car. While time is of the essence in not able to keep Jan's head alive indefinitely, Bill goes on a quest to find a body on which to place Jan's head to make her once again a complete woman. He not only needs to ensure that he cannot be pinpointed to whoever the woman he chooses to murder, but choose a woman with a body worthy of both Jan and himself. What happens is affected by what Bill and Kurt have locked up in the closet of their laboratory, the result of their earlier failed experiments, and by Jan still having a functioning brain.
