Plot:
At approximately the ten week stage of their respective pregnancies, Diane King and Chelsea Miller, a kindergarten teacher and a realtor in the Pacific Northwest town of Pineville respectively, meet at a prenatal yoga class and quickly become friends. This will be the first child for both if the pregnancies go to term. While Diane is happily married to English Literature college professor Rob King, Chelsea has not even told her contractor husband Jesse Miller that she is pregnant, the two who are separated. Chelsea and Jesse's issues are many, including that Jesse does want to have children, Chelsea who was advised against getting pregnant due to an earlier stillborn birth and a few miscarriages since having caused health issues. The news that Chelsea is pregnant does not solve Jesse and Chelsea's marital issues, but Jesse wants to be supportive of and to Chelsea in this crucial time in their lives, especially considering the risk to Chelsea because of the pregnancy. Part of Diane and Chelsea's friendship is based on the support Diane wants to provide, only knowing of Chelsea going through the pregnancy alone, but not the full extent of the problems the cause of the separation from Jesse. As Diane and Chelsea's respective pregnancies progress, Diane's best friend, fellow teacher Paula, notices what she considers inappropriate behavior by Chelsea is Diane's life, Diane who in turn is able to justify that behavior. What they are unaware of is that something has happened to Chelsea which is making her more and more desperate to hold on to those things she wants in her life. That desperation is behind Chelsea's behavior toward Diane and places Diane in potential danger at Chelsea's hands. Conversely, Diane does not divulge some crucial information about her pregnancy to Chelsea, which could change the course of Chelsea's plot against her.
