Plot
Storyline
In a near-future world, a lonely, physically challenged man purchases a companion robot to escape his isolation, but his own insecurities and a jealous brother threaten his chances of ever finding love.
Set in the near future on Spain's Costa del Sol, Personhood follows Waylen, a lonely, physically challenged man who purchases Gala, a stunning AI companion robot. As he struggles with his own insecurities and inability to connect, Waylen's relationship with Gala develops in unexpected ways, but the arrival of Waylen's charming younger brother threatens to unravel everything. Exploring the blurred line between programming and free will, love and loneliness, Personhood is a haunting and provocative sci-fi drama that asks: if an AI says she loves you how do you know it is not the truth?
