Plot Storyline

In 1918, Maria Adelaide Coelho da Cunha, heiress and owner of the Diario de Noticias, leaves the social, cultural, and family luxury in which she lives to escape with a chauffeur 26 years her junior.

Shortly after World War I, an upper-class woman is committed to a psychiatric clinic by her husband because she has eloped with her young chauffeur. Maria de Medeiros embodies with passion and talent this free woman who was at the center of an affair that shook Portugal at the time.
