Now or Never

76-year-old Elise lives with her 79-year-old husband Paul in a villa on the Zurichberg. She would have liked to become a writer, but received no support from either a publisher or her husband. Disillusioned, she throws away her manuscripts and sells off her entire library. Paul is more interested in his old Maserati than in his wife's literary works. Cared for by their long-time housekeeper Angela, the elderly couple live peacefully side by side. But one day, Angela is approached by director Enrique, who wants to hire her for a theater project. The spirited Italian sees this as her chance to finally realize her dream. She asks Elise and Paul for three months' paid leave, which they agree to with a heavy heart. A difficult time begins for them, as they now have to learn to cook and do laundry themselves. What no one suspects at this point is that Angela's involvement will set in motion a series of fateful encounters that will force Elise and Paul to confront their own past. When Elise takes her dog to a rehearsal out of curiosity, he eats chocolate and has to be rushed to the emergency room. Enrique's son Jakob works there as a veterinarian. When Elise sees him, she kisses him passionately and faints. In her eyes, Jakob is the spitting image of Robert, her great childhood sweetheart, whom she should have followed to America back then. The memories catch up with her and won't let go. Is it all just coincidence? Is it fate? And does Elise have the right to rewrite the biographies of everyone involved so late in the game?
