New Beginnings

After 30 years of marriage, Diane (Karin Viard) is bored in her marriage to pianist Alain (Franck Dubosc) and feels sidelined in her job as an editor. She's thinking about breaking free, but Alain beats her to it. Although he loves Diane, he leaves her in a rush because he suspects her of having an affair with her boss, Stephane (Tom Leeb). Now Diane is suddenly free. And she boldly embraces her newfound freedom: she actually starts an affair with the attractive Stephane and explores her options, while Alain also experiences a new love with the young Agathe (Clementine Baert). So all that's left is the divorce - or is it? But then two pregnancies throw everything into disarray - and the cards are reshuffled. Driven by irrational impulses in the wake of sudden romantic troubles, a married couple finds itself, rather involuntarily, in situations they can no longer control. With great enthusiasm, established French film stars Karin Viard and Franck Dubosc convincingly portray how a long-standing romantic relationship can quickly erode while, at the same time, a decades-old intimacy persists despite acute tensions.
