With the strength of their arms, the men and women who shaped France's industrial power. For a long time, they included children. Often, immigrants had to be brought in to keep the factories running. All fought to invent French social standards. Thanks to exceptional archives and moving personal accounts, this grand fresco covers a century and a half of history, paying tribute to these men and women who are all too often forgotten, and have become almost invisible, despite the fact that almost a quarter of the French population are workers.
