Plot
Storyline
Two brothers forced to leave their debt-ridden Midwest farm become folk heroes by robbing the banks that have been foreclosing on farmers.
Brothers Frank Jr. and Terry Roberts operate the family farm. Once storied and profitable with Nikita Khrushchev even having made a stop there on a state visit in 1959 when it was Iowa farm of the year, it has now failed, a recent rainstorm destroying a corn crop the last issue as the bank has foreclosed, it only the latest foreclosure on a long-standing farm. Angry Frank believes these foreclosures are a sign of the system against the hard working farmer as costs have skyrocketed with grain prices having stayed relatively stable over the same time. Feeling like the bank doesn't deserve the farm, Frank convinces Terry that they should burn it down. In the process, the brothers become folk heroes among the farming community as the police come after them. As such, Frank begins to believe that with that support, the authorities can't touch them leading to his increasingly brazen anti-establishment behavior and a potential rift with more contemplative Terry.
