Danny Carmody Jr. devoted his life to running the Chicago bar that is names, like him, after his father, who starred in the hockey team that since then generally collects losses, yet his patrons remained die-hard fans. He flirts with widowed would be-painter Jess Wolfe, whose uninspired failure to shine or sell is about to get her dumped from her own family's arts foundation. When Danny takes her along to a game, the team finally wins again, and fan superstition links that to them being on kiss camera. So they are rooted for almost as much as the team, .except by her artistic agent, who demands she puts painting first Danny's supportive uncle Pat convinces him to fight for love and hopefully 'save the team'.
