Storyline
Linda advances from secretary to exec, marries ex-footballer Jimmy. When a radio exec offers career help for sexual favors and Jimmy gets jealous, she chooses domestic life, yet yearns for her career.
Twenty-two year old Linda Lawrence, the secretary to executive Harvey Bates at Americo Corp., a Madison Avenue advertising agency, wants to become a salaried executive in the advertising world, as opposed to her current status as a wage earning employee, or a "Mrs." as are many in her position, such as her co-worker, best friend, and roommate, Nancy Grohl. Linda has as a role model Bea Harris, one of the most respected copywriters at Americo. Linda's goal, despite having a number of men interested in her, such as Americo account executive George Onslow, is the most persistent of those men, happy-go-lucky Jimmy Hall, who works in Americo's sales division. As Linda is able to break through to stand on the next notch of the corporate ladder in having Bates' ear, he who treats her like a trusted niece, Jimmy is concurrently able to break through her defenses for her to fall in love with him. But Linda and Jimmy will learn if they have the same goals for a future together, especially as another man enters the picture, Americo client executive Harry Galleon who can offer Linda the exciting professional and personal life she seems to want. Also affecting what happens is Galleon's ex-girlfriend Wanda Townsend, a dragon of a woman who still sees herself as the future Mrs. Galleon.
