Plot:
Portland OR. Walt, a skid row corner and liquor store clerk, falls in immediate lust (which he considers love) with straight Johnny Alonzo, an eighteen year old (at least according to Johnny) illegal Mexican immigrant, a frequent customer. Johnny and his friend and fellow illegal immigrant Roberto "Pepper" live in a local cheap hotel, and are penniless in being unemployed. Neither Johnny or Roberto speak any English, while Walt has some basic conversational Spanish. Walt befriends them and tries to help them out in any way he can in his hope of having sex most specifically with Johnny, although lording his white privilege for sex is not his stated intention while it is the reality. The push and pull between them is based on the power each wields over the other, Walt's in being a citizen "gringo" with money (at least enough to put a roof over his head and food on the table), and Johnny and to some extent Roberto's the knowledge of Walt's overwhelming sexual desire.
