Robert B. Parker's Jesse Stone: Death in Paradise

Chief Jesse Stone and his deputy Luther 'Suit(case)' Simpson' painstakingly identify the badly decayed corpse of a fourteen-year-old teen girl, found in a lake in Paradise, Massuchusettes, by the frat ring of straight-A college sports hero Hooker Royce as Billie Bishop, an ex he dated during a break with his real lover, as act of pity for the former A-student who became a junkie 'school slut' breaking up with her parents after abuse. The family was among the beneficiaries of bestseller author Norman Shaw's annual benefit, where more abuse victims were selected, but he also has a complex link with 'white collar' crime baron Leo Finn and his killer-bodyguard Lovey Norris. Stone once more transgresses all rules to lean on a domestic abuse suspect: Jerry Snyder, who ends up resorting to a supermarket hostage taking, which Stone handles with Suit, but the latter gets shot, rendered comatose.
