Jaguar

Three young men -Damoure, Lam, and Illo-as they travel from their rural home toward the Gold Coast (modern-day Ghana) in search of work and adventure. The film blends staged storytelling with real experiences. Along the way, the trio encounter different cultures, jobs, and social situations, often interpreting what they see with humor and curiosity. A distinctive feature of the film is its narration: the protagonists themselves later provide commentary on their journey, reflecting on events with wit and irony. Through this approach, Rouch explores themes of migration, colonial influence, cultural exchange, and the encounter between tradition and modernity in West Africa.
