High Noon

On a Sunday morning in the town of Hadleyville, Will Kane and Amy Fowler have just gotten married. Will has given up his job as the town's marshal due to Amy being a Quaker, the two who are immediately leaving town to start life anew elsewhere, the town thus without a marshal until the arrival of the newly hired one a day later. Signs of trouble brewing begin with the arrival back to town of never charged band of outlaws Ben Miller, Jim Pierce, and Jack Colby. Their sighting in town is shortly followed by Will receiving official word that convicted Frank Miller, Ben's brother and the only one of the gang who Will had enough evidence against to charge, has been pardoned, with the assumption being that his three comrades are waiting for his arrival on the noon train for the four to take their revenge on Will, namely to kill him. Against Amy's wishes and ultimatum that she will leave him if he does, Will decides to stay in town to uphold law and order with the presumption of bloodshed with Frank's imminent arrival, despite he being their primary target. With only one current deputy Harvey Pell, Will goes on a mission to round up more people to act as deputies, they needing to be in place and ready to go before Frank's arrival in just over an hour. Will will find that finding those deputies is a more difficult job than he would want, some refusing due to being friends with the Millers, some, who consider Will the best marshal the town has ever had and restored the town to a family-friendly place to reside, having various different reasons for not wanting to be deputized, and even Harvey having ill feelings toward Will for not providing official support for him to become the new marshal, Harvey believing it having to do with his relationship with who is Will's ex-girlfriend, Helen Ramirez. With a time crunch and his life on the line, Will may end up in a face off against the four on his own almost certainly to his death, that is unless he changes his mind to leave town for good before Frank's arrival.
