Becky del Paramo leaves her twelve-year-old daughter to devote herself entirely to her singing career. Rebeca grows up with her father, obsessed with her absent mother, whom she idolizes. Fifteen years later, Becky returns to Madrid to give concerts and put her life in order, especially her relationship with her daughter. Rebeca, who tries to imitate her mother in everything, usually with little success, has married Becky's former lover, Manuel, and works as a news anchor. Manuel has never been able to win Rebeca's trust. She gives that to the transvestite "Femme Letal," whose perfect imitation of Becky del Paramo serves as a kind of surrogate mother for Rebeca. Now Manuel wants to divorce Rebeca and take her mother back as his lover. But Becky rejects him. One of the following nights, Manuel is murdered. That evening, three women had visited him: his lover Isabel, who is a colleague of Rebeca's; Becky, who caught him with Isabel and left the house after a heated argument; and finally Rebeca, who found his body. Investigating Judge Dominguez's inquiries focus on the mother and daughter. From him, Rebeca learns that her mother and Manuel had resumed their relationship. A deep rift opens up between the two women. As Rebeca reads the news on the day of Manuel's funeral, she makes a confession on camera. Although Judge Dominguez believes she is trying to protect someone, Rebeca is still remanded in custody. There, the judge has her reunited with her mother. The secret surrounding Manuel's death will bind them together forever.
