Storyline
Durga, coming from a respectable family, believes she has married into a cultured household. However, her in-laws subject her to harassment. Tragically, before passing away, she gives birth to a daughter who is determined to seek revenge.
'Durga Mhantyat Mala' is about a Tamasha dancer, Durga (Deepali Sayeed), a cultured and educated woman. Durga's mother Suguna (Usha Naik) wants her to settle down and get married in a descent family. But events take a turn and she lands up in a loony bin because her would-be husband is mowed down by villains who lustily eye her, on her wedding day. Enter Dr.Vijay, (Milind Gawli) a US-educated shrink who looks like Durga's husband, and with his tools of psycho analysis cures her but falls in love with her and marries her, much to the chagrin of his greedy relatives (Kuldeep Pawar, Surekha Kudchi and the rest) who want to usurp Dr.Vijay's wealth by marrying him to his cousin sister. The film treads the much-walked path of abuse and torture of the new bride which ends in her death in a gruesome murder. What happens next? Is Durga actually alive? Will she take her revenge? Will Dr.Vijay remarry?
