Plot
Storyline
Instructional short aimed at school-aged children of the early 1950s that combines animation and live-action footage with voice-over narration to explain what to do to increase their chances of surviving the blast from an atomic bomb.
The animated character of Bert the Turtle provides an illustration of the real life protocol of what to do in case of an atomic bomb being detonated, namely to duck and cover. While ducking and covering is the basic maneuver, this film also discusses what to do under different circumstances, such as when ample warning is given that a bomb is being detonated, to what to do when one is out in the open without warning, to a wide range of other situations between these two extremes.
