Plot
Storyline
A short film Marguerite Duras which documents the Tuileries Gardens.
The film shows slow, static shots of sculptures in the Louvre Museum, particularly a stone statue representing a woman known as Cesaree. The camera quietly observes the statue and surrounding gallery spaces. Over these images, Duras's voice-over narration evokes the imagined story of Cesaree, a Jewish queen exiled from her homeland and wandering through history. The narration blends fragments of memory, exile, loss, and identity, connecting the figure of Cesaree with broader themes of displacement and the historical suffering of the Jewish people.
