Storyline
The friends enjoy the charms of nature - and of their guests.
Antonin Dura operates a river bathhouse in a small Czech town. His constant companions are similarly middle aged Canon Roch (a deacon), and Major Hugo, partly by circumstance in the latter two men partaking in their own individual pursuits by the river, and partly by their collective "enjoyment" of verbally sparring with each other, each having a vastly different view of life in a global sense. The one thing they can agree on is the general unattractiveness of the female population in their town, those females which include Antonin's wife, Katerina. The life of these four is turned upside down with the arrival into town of a small traveling circus, comprised solely of Ernie, a combination magician/tightrope walker/acrobat, and his young, pretty female assistant, Anna. The three men are each attracted to Anna, which the other two know, and as each tries to have his way with her to his own sensibility. What the three men, but especially Antonin, may not initially realize is that what is good for the ganders is also good for the geese.
