Storyline
Two marketing professionals hire a lookalike of classic Western actor Smoky Callaway to impersonate the actor and make new films, but things go awry when the real Callaway, thought long missing, returns.
Advertising geniuses, Mike Frye (Fred MacMurray) and Deborah Patterson (Dorothy McGuire), have bought the television rights to "Smoky" Callaway's old movies. After airing them, Smoky becomes an overnight success. The public demands to see Smoky. Mike and Deborah leave to find him. They discover that he is now a drunken womanizer. The two decide to hire a cowboy named "Stretch" Barnes (Howard Keel) to play Smoky. When all seems perfect, the real "Smoky" Callaway (also Howard Keel) appears and wants part of the action.
