Wolfwalkers

The year is 1650 in Ireland. The authoritarian Lord Protector is a fictionalized version of Oliver Cromwell, addressed only by the name of his political office. He has a new policy of intentional deforestation for the vicinity of Kilkenny, but a local wolf pack is an obstacle to his plans. The Lord Protector summons the experienced English hunter Bill Goodfellowe to exterminate the wolves. Along with Bill, his rebellious daughter and apprentice hunter Robyn Goodfellowe arrives in Kilkenny. Following an accidental fall into a hunting trap, Robyn meets an apparently friendly wolf who tries to help her escape. The wolf accidentally bites her while freeing her. Robyn soon learns that the wolf is the local girl Mebh. Mebh is is a "Wolfwalker", whose spirit leaves her body and transforms a wolf when she sleeps. Robyn befriends Mebh, but she soon finds herself transforming into a wolf as well. Mebh reveals that her bite turned Robyn into a fellow Wolfwalker, and she helps the rookie Wolfwalker get accustomed to her new form. Robyn increasingly sides with Mebh's wolf pack against the Lord Protector. She is also becomes used to the idea that Ireland is her new home.
