In Ocean City, Maryland, Gussie Sawyer and Henry Squires were teenage lovers, separated in 1969 fresh out of high school as their lives diverged in each having a different priority for their life. Now a renowned Paris-based photojournalist who constantly travels the world for work and the operator of the local Ocean City newspaper, respectively, they are reunited when Gussie returns to Ocean City in her first real vacation home in thirteen years. They have to reconcile their feelings for each other factoring in the reasons for them not having remained a couple despite loving each other, and their current realities which for Henry includes a settled life in Ocean City with a wife and teenage son, Ruth and Addy Squires.
