Pasadena, California, 2003. Pure darkness has latched onto Mikey's mother, and it won't let go. No one knows what caused Mum to change, but the monster in the basement is real; it knows the house like the back of its palm and feeds off raw fear. Then again, only demons possess people; their ungodly influence spreads like a disease, contaminating both body and soul. Now, with nowhere to hide, the panicked 8-year-old boy must survive the advances of the infernal abuser and break the chain of evil. However, unresolved childhood trauma is a beast that echoes through generations. And Mikey's case is no different.
