The Whale

For Charlie, a severely obese literature professor, there are few things that matter to him. Since the death of his beloved partner, for whom he left his wife Mary and daughter Ellie eight years ago, he has let himself go. Charlie barricades himself in his darkened apartment, gives online seminars without showing his face, and even avoids meeting the pizza delivery guy. Charlie is ashamed of his weight of 270 kilos and his body. Although his only friend and nurse, Liz, urgently advises him to seek hospital treatment for his progressive heart failure, Charlie is knowingly heading toward death. He has one last wish: he wants to see his 16-year-old daughter Ellie again and get to know her at least a little, despite a restraining order.
