The Universal Theory

The year is 1962: Johannes Leinert travels with his doctoral advisor, Julius Strathen, to a physics conference in the Swiss Alps. An Iranian scientist is scheduled to deliver a groundbreaking lecture on quantum mechanics there. But the speaker, from whom nothing less than a theory of everything is expected, is running late, and the high society crowd passes the time with witty dinner parties and elegant ski excursions. A mysterious pianist captivates Johannes, but something is off about her: she knows things about him that she couldn't possibly know. When one of the German physicists meets a gruesome end, two investigators step in, suspecting murder. As bizarre cloud formations appear in the sky, the pianist vanishes without a trace, and Johannes uncovers a mystery that has taken root deep beneath the mountain.
