The United States, 2023. Sustained by violence and the promise of revival, the annual institution of The Purge remains the cornerstone of democracy in a fractured modern America. After all, as the bloody home invasion in The Purge (2013) demonstrates, the brutal system delivers results. This year, only minutes before the 12-hour tradition begins, Shane and Liz find themselves stranded downtown, surrounded by vicious gangs eager to exercise their right to kill. Elsewhere in the city, mother and daughter Eva and Cali learn the hard way that the enemy is everywhere. Meanwhile, a heavily armed man is on a time-sensitive mission to find closure by getting even. His motive is a mystery, but one thing is clear: he won't stop until he gets what he wants. The night is young; however, these perfect strangers must confront a chilling truth.
