Maggie Gilkeson runs a remote small farm where she lives with her two daughters, Dot and Lilly. She also works as a healer. One day, Maggie's father Samuel appears in the barren wasteland. He had left his family when Maggie was still a child and had since been living with Native Americans. Maggie is still angry with him and sends him away. Then something dramatic happens: Maggie's friend and neighbor is murdered by Apaches and her daughters are kidnapped. But Dot manages to escape and reports everything. When the sheriff refuses to pursue the Apaches, Maggie sets out herself to free Lilly. In her desperation, she agrees to let her father accompany her, especially since she can use the support of the experienced tracker. A grueling chase ensues, and time is of the essence, because the kidnappers plan to sell Lilly and other captive girls across the Mexican border.
