In the ruins of what was once North America, the country of Panem requires a teenage boy and girl from each of its twelve districts to participate in the Hunger Games every year. At the Hunger Games, a nationally televised competition, "Tributes" compete against one another until only one survivor is left. It is a combination of twisted entertainment and government intimidation.
