Plot:
A lavish world of decadence and ebullience awaits innocent Midwesterner and aspiring writer Nick Carraway in F. Scott Fitzgerald's cinematic adaptation of The Great Gatsby, as he moves into a cosy cottage in Long Island during the Roaring Twenties. In pursuit of the elusive American Dream, humble bond-seller Nick strikes up an acquaintance with mysterious, self-made millionaire neighbour Jay Gatsby instead, whose extravagant bacchanalian gatherings are the talk of West Egg. However, as Nick finds himself instantly drawn into fabulous Gatsby's dazzling nouveau-riche world, he soon becomes entangled in an impossible love triangle and Jay's unrequited passion for Daisy, Nick's married, sad-eyed cousin. Now, overpowering impulses and fervent desires can only spell trouble, paving the way for bitter heartbreak and tragedy. But was it all just a fleeting illusion?
