The Departure

Marc, a young Brussels hairdresser obsessed with sports cars, dreams of entering an upcoming rally. The problem: he doesn't own a car. Determined to take part no matter what, he tries every possible scheme to borrow, rent, or otherwise get hold of a Porsche-often with absurd or chaotic results. During his frantic quest, he meets Michele, a gentle and curious young woman who gradually becomes his companion on this improvised journey. As they move from one misadventure to the next, Marc wavers between his mechanical obsession and the slow awakening of genuine feelings. Blending comedy, youthful restlessness, and poetic absurdity, Le Depart portrays the impulsive energy of youth and the tension between material desire and emotional discovery.
