The Careless Years

In Los Angeles, sensitive high-school senior classmates Jerry Vernon, from a middle-class blue-collar family, and Emily Meredith, from a wealthier white-collar family, are somewhat thrown together socially as their respective best friends, outgoing Bob and Harriet, have just started dating. As they spend time together, Jerry and Emily discover that they have fallen in love with each other. Wanting to be together, they decide that they would like to get married as soon as possible. Their decision doesn't sit well with either set of parents, who react differently to the news and in how they deal with their offspring. Will the couple defy their parents and get married anyway, and if so, will their love sustain them as they believe it will?
