Forced to move in with his strict mother and brat sister Maxi in Connecticut, relaxed, kind teen Kyle Moore hates leaving behind his cool but penniless dad and Californian surfer lifestyle. Worse, his new high-school is the playground of the popular (Black) Widows ice-hockey team. Their cocky stars, Oliver, Cooper, and captain Derek Lowe, don't hesitate to show the new pup his place by painful humiliation. Only generally-ignored fat nerd Lonnie Gregory eagerly befriend Kyle, who still manages to interests a nice girl. When the bullies smash his smartphone, a mystery mall booth manager gives him a new one and recommends the "life-changing" app "You-niverse", which magically makes come true any status message entered. It gives Kyle undreamed-of opportunities, although he learns the hard way to ponder properly what to wish for, while entering his girl's choir and the bullies' team by impressing the staff in charge. Even bringing his dad and car back proves a shocking eye-opener, so he must also fix newly-created problems, which almost seems worse.
