Roaming Texas cowhands Dave Saunders (Tim Holt) and Chito Rafferty (Richard Martin) sign on with cattle rancher Fred Warren (Cliff Cark), and soon suspect that something rotten is happening on the Texas side of the Rio Grande. The smell comes from Regan (Robert Livingston), posing as a state cattle inspector who has condemned Warren's herd as having hoof-and-mouth disease. Regan's gang plan to drive the herd, after pretending to kill them, over the border into Mexico. But Dave and Chito, with assistance from a female veterinarian, Dr. Ann Rollins (Dorothy Malone) put an end to the odoriferous cattle-rustling scheme.
