In the upscale Colonia Roma district of Mexico City, change is afoot. Pivoting around Dr Antonio's middle-bourgeoisie family, the story follows the lives of two women: Cleo, a devoted live-in maid of Mixteco heritage, and Sofia, her academic employer. During one eventful year--from the quadrennial 1970s World Cup to the bloody Corpus Christi Massacre--their lives become inextricably intertwined when an ordinary business trip to Quebec leads to bitter heartbreak. Faced with unforeseen challenges, such as the complications of love and trying to find good in evil, Sofia and Cleo try to live in the now. After all, life always finds a way.
