Plot
Storyline
Amidst deep social inequality in early 20th-century Romania, oppressed peasants rise up against wealthy landowners. The film portrays the escalating tensions and the violent, tragic struggle for land, bread, and human dignity.
Fed up with the injustice of the very few men owning huge stretches of land, the peasants decide to revolt. Through the peasant Petre, important events from this uprising are shown, from it's very beginning and until it is finally suppressed at the expense of more than ten thousand lives.
