JIM Lacy (Robert Mitchum), a young cowpoke who reaches the Comstock Lode before its true value is realized finds himself accused of murder. Saved by two friends, Chito Rafferty (Richard Martin) and Dusty (Guinn "Big Boy" Williams), from being lynched , he resolves to find the real killer of Ben Ide (Larry Wheat), but becomes involved with a crooked mining man, Cash Burridge (Harry Woods), who know the Lode's real richness and resorts to murder to discourage the claim owners, so he can acquires the properties for himself.
