Muscle Beach Party (1964)

Friends led by boyfriend and girlfriend Frankie and Dee Dee are hanging out at a Southern California beach for their extended vacation, they staying at a beachfront house for easy access to the beach and more importantly for Frankie, the surf. Frankie doesn't see surfing as a metaphor for life, but life itself, while Dee Dee wants him to focus on a more settled future with her. Their fun on the beach is interrupted with the arrival of Jack Fanny and his bodybuilders, he who is promoting his gym and his star bodybuilder, Mr. Galaxy, Flex Martian. While Frankie, Dee Dee and their friends see the beach as being public and thus open to everyone, Fanny wants exclusive use, or at least well-defined boundaries between "us" and "them". That division gets even more complicated with the arrival of wealthy, beautiful, widowed Countess Juliana and her entourage, she who has fallen in love with Flex purely in having seen him in photos, her accommodating business manager S.Z. Matts who has been on a search for Flex. Julie wants Flex at any cost, including buying him and the other bodybuilders from their "owner" Fanny. However, Julie soon has her eyes set on someone else, namely crooner Frankie, which doesn't sit well with Dee Dee and their friends, as well as Flex, Fanny and their group. What happens in the melee is affected by an up to this point silent partner.
