Miss Potter

London, early 20th century: Unlike most upper-class daughters, 30-year-old Beatrix still lives with her wealthy parents, Helen and Rupert Potter, in a large house with servants. She refuses to marry someone of her own social standing because, according to social conventions, this would mean losing her independence and freedom. Instead of conforming to female role stereotypes, the talented watercolor painter and storyteller has dreamed of being recognized as an illustrator since childhood. Her stories and her life revolve around rabbits, ducks, and mice. It is only when she meets Norman Warne, the son of a publisher, who proves to be her soul mate, that her dream becomes within reach. Together they publish Beatrix's first book - it is a resounding success. Beatrix receives Norman's active support, resulting in the publication of two more books; meanwhile, she befriends Norman's sister Millie Warne, who is also unmarried. Beatrix and Norman fall in love, but Helen does not accept that her daughter should marry a "merchant." Beatrix's father suggests that his daughter spend the summer with her parents at their country house. If she still chooses Norman after that, he will agree to the marriage. When no more letters arrive from Norman after a while, Beatrix is disappointed. Then one day she receives a message from Millie and immediately sets off for London.
