Plot:
Outwardly, is the presentation of three different "romantic" relationships on the same night, each at a different stage of its trajectory. The first couple is Howard and Monica, who are four months into their affair which started out as just a one-night stand. Primarily a sexual relationship, Howard decides to call it off much to Monica's anger in feeling he has treated her poorly, despite they not seemingly really liking each other as people. The second couple is Grace and Sam, who have just met. Their connection is primarily emotional, the possibility of sex which seems somewhat secondary but still important in the holistic meaning of love. The third couple is Michelle and Allen, who are at a stalemate in their relationship. From the example of her parents who love each other, Michelle wants to get married, while from the example of his parents who hate each other but have stayed together regardless, Allen isn't sure if he ever wants to get married, to Michelle or anyone else, his rationale being that marriage only inflicts heartache into love. Michelle gives Allen an ultimatum of a decision within twenty-four hours: get engaged or break up. Michelle and her parents think it would be a good idea if the six of them meet to give Michelle and Allen a better sense of what they should do. Complicating matters in neither set of parents knowing is that Michelle's parents are Howard and Grace, while Allen's parents are Sam and Monica.
