Young Max Bergmann (9) has mixed feelings about moving for his mother Marion's new job: it's to a cool location, former knightly seat Geroldseck Castle, but she's a nurse there at the seniors home that was turned into. Nice Max makes 'grandparent' friends, especially the trio that usually occupies table seven. They try to help Max dealing with kid bullies and the serious threat to adults: a crafty thief, who manages to get Marion blamed for his robberies, so they must set a trap but he's on to them too.
