Seeing himself as the latest victim of the state's authoritarianism, Trevor, an antisocial, racist, and habitual sixteen-year-old offender, takes great pride in his white heritage. With "enemies" scattered all over Britain, bright but perpetually angry Trevor is utterly convinced that he can beat the dream-crushing system by aggression, violence, and defiance, burning his bridges with friends, family, and social workers alike.
