After the death of her husband, Francisca Pedrosa returns to her home village along with Maria, her daughter. However, an ancient irreconcilable enmity pits the Pedrosas against another family in the town, the Aviles. Which does not prevent Maria and Beto, the youngest of the Aviles brothers, from falling madly in love, giving rise to the anger of his father and Lupo, the older brother.
