Plot:
Late 1930s, early 1940s in London: The Hanbury sisters Thomasina "Thom" and Martha "Mars" are orphaned sisters who live alone and isolated in an English country house. They are highly gifted in mathematics and technology and have constructed a machine called LOLA that can receive radio and television snippets from the future. They listen to cult music before it is written, place sure-fire bets, and live out their inner punk spirit before the movement is even invented. As World War II escalates, the sisters decide to use LOLA for a good cause and intercept military information from the future. Their time machine is a great success in the British fight against the Nazis, changing the course of the war and ultimately history. Thom becomes increasingly seduced by LOLA's power. And Mars realizes the fatal consequences of their game with time only very late.
