Last Sentinel

It is the year 2063: 95 percent of the Earth is covered in water, and a shift in the Earth's axis has left only two hostile continents. In the event of an enemy invasion, a nuclear bomb would be the last means of defense. However, its detonation and the subsequent tidal wave would also mean the end of all remaining land masses. Halfway between the continents, 3,000 kilometers apart, a platform is rusting away: the "Sentinel". Here, four army personnel assigned to guard the atomic bomb are waiting to be replaced after two years: the hot-headed Sullivan, the eccentric Baines, the conscientious Hendrichs and the clever Cassidy. But even three months after the agreed date, they are still stuck. They are slowly running out of patience. When the longed-for ship finally arrives, it is empty - the new crew has disappeared. Despair spreads. Sullivan discovers that their daily communication with home actually consists solely of their own messages sent back automatically. Panic now breaks out on the platform: Has the enemy defeated them? Are they the last survivors?
