Las Doce Pruebas de Asterix

Under the control of Julius Caesar, the Roman Army has managed to conquer most of Gaul. The exception is a single village in Armorica whose inhabitants accomplish superhuman feats of strength and speed thanks to a magical potion. In the Roman Senate, rumors are spreading that these superhuman Gauls may be gods. Frustrated with the situation, Caesar meets with the Gaulish chieftain Vitalstatistix and offers to settle their differences with a challenge inspired by the Twelve Labours of Hercules. The chieftain's best warrior must complete a set of twelve new tasks that only gods could succeed in. Caesar states that if all the tasks are completed, he will personally hand over the Roman Empire to them; if they fail even just one task, the Gauls must surrender to Rome. The chieftain chooses the extremely short and highly intelligent Asterix as his champion, while Asterix's best friend and supremely strong sculptor Obelix will join him for the mission. Caesar chooses the incorruptible scribe Caius Tiddlus to serve as the guide of the two Gauls, and the chronicler and referee for their tasks. The early tasks mostly involve outperforming or outwitting various skilled athletes, martial artists, and hypnotists. The later tasks are more complicated, as the two Gauls have to acquire a permit document from a small army of obstructive bureaucrats, to secure a safe place to sleep in a plain haunted by ghostly legionnaires, and to defeat every gladiator and circus animal in the Circus Maximus. For this final task, the duo are joined by their fellow villagers who have traveled to Rome to face the challenge.
