The former cabaret dancer Olga has become a tomboyish mechanic, operating an isolated gas station and restaurant in the deserts of the Southwestern United States. She is jaded and world-weary, while her younger sister and reluctant partner Myra is craving for some excitement. The hardened criminal George and his reluctant partner Jeff decide to hide in the desert following a botched robbery, with George wanted by the police for two murders which were not part of their original plan. George is Olga's abusive former boyfriend and seeks her help, counting on her still having feelings for him. When George learns that Olga is safeguarding the valuable personal items of two stranded tourists, he decides to woo her while planning to rob her safe. When Olga finds out that he toyed with her feelings to serve his own greed, she shoots him in retaliation. As George dies, Olga allows Jeff to flee unharmed.
